Christmas usually comes with presents. It’s easy to loose track which present is for whom when they are already wrapped. Just imagine mixing them up on Christmas Day! To avoid this predicament I strongly recommend marking every present with one of these hand-painted watercolour gift tags…wink wink.
If you still need some last minute gift wrap, check out my printable hand-drawn gift wrap (featured on the images of this post).
I adore watercolour everything and I know there is a good chance you, too. So I decided this year’s gift tags will be colourful, bright and in watercolour. I was amazed how big my collection of hand-painted watercolour blobs and stains is already. All these different colours and textures! It was a lot of fun to go through it and choose the ones for the gift tags.

I didn’t mark the hole for the string on the tags as you might wanna decide for yourself where to punch it.
Use a white or metallic gel pen to write the name or message on the front. Or leave them as they are and write everything on the plain backside.
To style your hand-painted watercolour gift tags with small frames you need:
- printed gift tags (download them here)
- small picture frames without glass that fit the tags
- gel pen
1 – Cut out the tags that fit the shape of your frames.
2 – Write your message on the tag and tape it into the frame
3 – Cut a piece of ribbon to go once around the wrapped gift. Tape or tie the ribbon together at the back of the gift.
4 – Glue frame to ribbon. Done.
