A year ago I posted a tutorial how to make an envelope laptop case shortly after I got my new laptop. Back then the idea was born to make my own artwork for a clear laptop incase hard shell. I experimented a bit with different cut-outs of watercolour designs that I stuck between shell and laptop. But I was never happy enough to share it.
Now I am really happy that I took my time as I only painted this artwork recently and I am so happy with the result. I decided to not only make it into a laptop case artwork, but also give you a desktop wallpaper download. You can choose what suits you better. I am actually using both right now.
Download the desktop wallpaper:

To do your own design:
Paint or draw your favourite design. You can use the original for your laptop incase hard shell artwork, but it might be better to scan it, scale it to the right size and then print it. I did the later as I painted on watercolour paper that was not the right size. If you have to upscale it, remember to scan it in high resolution.
To make your laptop incase hard shell you need:
- laptop with clear incase (or speck) hard shell
- printed design in the right size
(for a 13″ laptop a DIN A4 or letter print is fine if you’re ok with it not stretching all the way to the edges of the laptop)
Download the design in your preferred size:
1 – Cut away the white top part of the design by cutting just outside the black lines. Cut round corners at the bottom corners.
2 – Remove the top part of the incase hard shell. This can be a bit tricky, you can check out this video for guidance, it helped me a lot. Position the printed design on top of the lid, make sure it is not askew and facing in the right direction, and clip the hard shell back on. Done.
