How to make: super easy Christmas baubles

Jingle bells, jingle bells jingle all the way…still looking for Christmas decoration? Want to give your tree that nice golden shimmer without looking too traditional? Try these gold and white Christmas baubles. They are super easy to make and look festive and modern.

And if you want it  even less traditional, try a Christmas branch on your wall or in a pretty bottle instead of a traditional Christmas tree. These baubles are perfect for thin branches as they don’t weight much and even when one falls it’s not going to break.

All you need for your Christmas baubles:

  • polystyrene balls (I used ∅ 4cm / 1½″)
  • white tissue paper
  • screw hooks
  • wallpaper glue / mod podge
  • bowl
  • brush
  • gold or copper craft paint
  • thread

1 – Prepare the wallpaper glue in the bowl.

2 – Rip the tissue paper into small pieces (approx. 2cm²/ sq¾″). Cover balls with glue and stick paper on, until the whole ball is covered. Let it dry.

3 – Paint one side copper or gold. I actually always end up painting in copper first and then repainting in gold, applies a nice shimmer. Let it dry.

4 – Screw in hooks. Consider where you want the painted side.

5 – String the thread through the hooks. Hang on Christmas tree or branch. Done.

Are you also crazy for gold around Christmas? Gold and white are my favourite colours for Christmas decoration. So there was not a lot to decide when it came to the colour scheme for these little Christmas baubles.

Are you with me or do you have another exciting colour scheme for Christmas? Let us know and drop a comment.
