When you’re a true crafter or artist, you don’t want to create only when you’re at home or in your studio. You want to be able to create, sketch, craft where ever creativity hits you or whenever you have time for it. I am like that. That’s why I came up with a simple pouch for my brushes, pens, dipping pens, crochet hooks, knitting needles or whatever art or craft I am pursuing right then.
Now I can take my supplies safely along and draw, paint or crochet away.
I love the simplicity of this pouch. You just need a piece of leather. If you don’t like to use leather, use felt or faux leather instead. Make it any size you need e.g. if you intend to store your whole pen collection in the pouch it has to be much wider than to only hold some of your favourite brushes.
Can’t wait to take my pouch with me and show it off to whoever wants to see it. I must admit I am feeling the thrill again of creating something beautiful which makes your life easier. Do you know this feeling?
I highly recommend making this pouch if you want to feel it again.
For your art & craft supply pouch you need:
- leather or felt approx. 26 x 24 cm
- leather strip
- wooden beads
- cutting mat
- craft knife
- metal ruler
- pencil or tailor’s chalk
- super glue
1 – If you don’t have a rectangle already, cut a neat rectangle from the leather, width and height depending on the size and number of supplies you want to keep there.
2 – Mark the cuts using the ruler and pencil or chalk. I made them 2 till 2,5 cm long, but it depends on your art/craft supplies. The thicker the brush or hook, the longer the cut.
3 – Cut along the marks.
4 – Glue the leather strip with the smooth side onto the rough side of the rectangle. Thread the beads on the strip.
5 – Insert your brushes, pens, crochet hooks and roll up the pouch, securing it by wrapping the leather strip around it. Done.
So, what are your art or craft supplies of choice that will find their new home in your handmade pouch?
